GENRE GUIDE / ARCHIVE EDITION
A route into the musicians and community around Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Red Dirt has a place-based history that deserves more than a generic independent-country label. Visit Stillwater documents The Farm as a gathering point and connects its story to musicians such as Bob Childers, Tom Skinner, and the Red Dirt Rangers. Their names offer a more specific beginning than a broad search for a sound.
This guide keeps Oklahoma and Texas connections visible without making them identical. An artist being from either state is not enough, by itself, to place the entire catalog inside Red Dirt. Follow the venues, collaborators, and histories that make the relationship clear.
The initial Whiskey Twang collection includes an Oklahoma artist route but does not claim to be a Red Dirt survey. Use the source and the listener’s map as the starting reading, then expand the music selection only as individual records receive their own verification.

The listening room
A clear guide to three overlapping music labels: Americana’s roots community, outlaw country’s 1970s history and Red Dirt’s Oklahoma connections.
